Working on school and I don’t have time anymore. I will resurrect this when my art is better, will probably have my own domain by then. Same goes for my ConceptArt sketchbook, will be creating a brand new one once I can start to digital paint and draw well.

School was finally become school. Homework is being given out, I’ll be meeting my final teacher and all will be well in the world, right?

Kind of. During the first few weeks I have learned quite a lot about myself and how to survive. Let me tell you about them.

My first class I got homework in was Figure Drawing. We had to draw 1 proportion drawing for both male and female figure from Andrew Loomis and do four straight line contour drawings. Doesn’t sound tough, right? Well I found out that I need to start paying attention more. Instead of drawing 1 proportion for each gender, I decided that I had to do all three for each and that I only needed three contour drawings. I created way too much work for myself, but I did learn more about proportion. …I guess.

I also learned just today to not eat a lot before class. Doing that to me seems to really put me in a bad way (headaches, chest pain, trouble breathing, that sort of stuff). I would just advise against it.

I know I haven’t put any sketchbook updates up, but I promise you I have been getting better. …sort of.

Because of the lack of scanner I have and how far away the Academy of Art’s scanner is from my dorm, I’ll probably only update occasionally instead of the every two days I had going in the middle of August. The dorm is interesting, but I loved my privacy back at home.

…and my online gaming. I miss that.

Just some gestures today. I’m working on environment paintings now and they’re a little tough. Hopefully I get some done in time for the next update or the one after that.

Hopefully some day soon I can use this blog to post only finished works and nice sketches and get rid of these random sketchbook posts. I can only hope it comes soon. I hate posting these, but my sketchbook is public. It’s here to remind me on how far I still need to go.

I’m one day late on this update, but it’s been a crappy few days. I only got an hour of drawing in today because of an illness so I kept it light. I tried to do everything today with minimal erasing and using non-patted lines. I still need quite a bit of work, but it’s alright. I don’t know why I’m adding my scrap page in this, I thought it would be something different.

My first week of tracking my drawing hours is going okay I guess. So far I only have 5 out of 12 hours of my goal since Monday. This is hard. It can only get better, and once I knock out this illness it will get better.

It’s been two days, time for an update. These are the only two presentable things I’ve drawn for the two hours I did today. I’m now documenting my drawing hours on an Excel spreadsheet to make sure I don’t slack. I also got Mozilla Sunbird so I can start creating schedules for when the school semester starts.

I still can’t get Photoshop to work well, so once school starts I will get a lot of paintings in. I really need to work on my lines. Maybe if I use something other than a mechanical pencil to draw that might help. Unfortunately I’m saving my 6B pencils and such for school with is in less than three weeks.

Just a quick update. Since my laptop is still not functioning correctly and I have no paper to use any types of charcoal on I’ve been focusing on drawing quickly. While I haven’t much to show, I do have one piece that I made in about 20 minutes. It’s not much, but I feel kind of bad for not updating this.

I’m not promising any updates, but I’ll try to get at least three presentable drawings posted in two days. I really want to get back on the “update every other day” schedule. I still can’t render quickly nor well in pencil, but I’m working on it.

Tomorrow’s the big day. In 25 days I ship off to San Francisco and live life in the school dorms. I’ll lose my kettlebells and most of my normal daily trinkets. I’ll need to be able to work on art until three at night, workout without weights, and generally keep myself sane with three other people in my living quarters.

Hopefully things change for the better over there though, like getting a job and finally getting a laptop I can successfully paint with without freezing or lag. Should be an interesting few weeks.

I really hope I can update my sketchbook on here and on CA, but it depends on the quality. If I’m good enough I might even be able to start my own website or a gallery on DA. Those will wait until I’m more on a professional level. The same goes with the CA gallery on the front page, I don’t want to ruin it with my sub-par art.

If I can succeed, I will truly be unstoppable; inexorable. Plus I found a publisher I can try that won’t try to change my comic, Dark Horse Comics. I’m sure you’ve heard of it before.

So over at ConceptArt.org their founder, Jason Manley, is going to be starting up live classes through their new streaming software. Knowing the kind of material they have over there, this should be very good.

Sorry for the “shameless plugs”, but I don’t have too much to post and I was excited. If you’re wondering why I haven’t updated the sketchbook portion of my blog, I’ve been doing some studies that I don’t think are worth posting. They’re very quick drawings and bad ones at that. When they start to look a tiny bit better and not ill proportioned, horrible messes I’ll show them.

I can’t call this blog Exorable Artistry just yet. I hope to never have to. My next post will probably be in August. I hate updating this with nothing of value to show.

Not going to anyway, how weird would that be? Plus ‘exorable’ isn’t even a word…

Today is the United States’ indepence day; a day for fireworks, grilling, and spending the day in the hot sun.

It’s 60 and cloudy here…

Oh well. I’ve been pretty anxious lately. I just applied to a job in the area and I think this is my best chance to get a job in two years. When I come back for the summer, I’ll be able to keep my job so I’ll have some sort of income during that period. I also looked into the References and Inspiration section of ConceptArt.org (I don’t know why I never did before), and found a lot of links that will actually help me draw real people. So far this has been a pretty good month.

I’m also picking up BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger. Looks really fun.
